Mad Science Lab is committed to bringing musicians a live tool to process audio that is ergonomic, easy to use, and can be used subtly or extremely.

Mad Science Lab History

Mad Science Lab started as an off shoot of Silicon Breakdown. SiliconBreakdown.com is a site that for over 10 years has supplied analog synthesizer information and synthesizer music on the web. Mad Science Lab produced a small numbers of analog filter units (2000-2005) based on the filter chips used in early Prophet 5 synthesizers. As the designs grew more complex it was decided that modern DSP systems were the best platform for the many ideas that Mad Science Lab were attempting to produce.

Our Chief Scientist, James Gideon, did his Senior Thesis on analog filters and oscillators, and has worked in the music industry for the last 15 years with excellent companies like Universal Audio, Emu Systems and Music Man.
